LION DANCE

Traditionally performed only by honored Gung fu students, this ceremonial dance is performed at various special occasions. The specific purpose of the Lion Dance is to scare away bad spirits and bring good luck to those who treat the Lion with respect and kindness. The dance begins with the spirit entering the Lion, represented by the two dancers. The Lion then awakens, bows respectfully to the Three Winds, plays, and accepts the offering of food and money and curls down to sleep again.
